Samantha joined Girl Effect in November 2015, shortly after moving to Rwanda with her young family.
Following the completion of an MA in Development Studies, Sam joined WaterAid in 2001, initially in a fundraising role. In a long and fruitful tenure with the INGO, Sam covered programmes in Asia and West Africa, travelling extensively and supporting WASH programmes as well as teams in-country. Sam has significant experience in strategic planning and organisational development, having led global strategy processes within WaterAid and then as an international consultant. Gender issues have always been of keen importance to Sam, both in her time in the WASH sector striving to mainstream gender issues within organisations and programmes, and also in her capacity as Trustee and Treasurer for the Gender and Development Network in the UK.
Joining Girl Effect's team in Rwanda and leading the girl-led youth brand Ni Nyampinga has been a natural progression, bringing Sam's wealth of development experience to the world of brand and media products within the local context.
