Amanda is responsible for driving the development of key partnerships, both funding and on-the-ground collaborations, and the marketing and communications activities of Girl Effect. She brings more than 20 years’ experience of working with the major UK charity, Comic Relief, where she led and shaped both the vision and output of a variety of key departments.
Beginning at the UK charity in 1994, Amanda became the first Fundraising Director at Comic Relief, before going on to become the first Marketing Director responsible for all Red Nose Day campaigns. She developed the first Sport Relief campaign in 2002 and led and implemented the organisation’s digital, and international licensing strategy.
Over the past 10 years, Amanda has been responsible for driving innovation at Comic Relief and for taking licensed events into seven countries around the world. She has also delivered Comic Relief’s involvement in major public advocacy campaigns, including Make Poverty History and Live 8. More recently, Amanda developed and launched Red Nose Day in the USA, which has now become a regular annual fundraising event on NBC.
