UNICEF is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. Girl Effect has the expertise of understanding girls and creating content that promotes self-belief. Through creating content that provides access to skills, ideas, knowledge and role models, girls have the self-belief and confidence to pursue an education.
UNICEF’s Gender, Adolescents and Learning Programme, launched in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Rwanda Education Board and civil society organisations, is aimed at improving learning and school retention for girls and boys.
Girl Effect has partnered UNICEF in Rwanda through our Ni Nyampinga brand. Ni Nyampinga is the first teen brand in Rwanda, seeking to create a new normal for girls, a world in which girls are educated, healthy, safe and economically empowered. Six years since its inception, Ni Nyampinga now reaches 4.6 million people or 55% of people in Rwanda over age 10.
The partnership with UNICEF will see Ni Nyampinga supporting the Gender, Adolescents and Learning Programme using its media platforms and brand ambassadors.
