An independent evaluation of Girl Hub by ITAD
Girl Hub was a strategic collaboration between the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) and the Nike Foundation established in February 2010. Drawing on the expertise of both DFID and Nike Foundation, Girl Hub worked to empower millions of adolescent girls using a unique combination of expertise about and insights from adolescent girls, social communications, investment in innovative approaches and influencing to deliver results for girls at scale.
In 2014, Girl Hub commissioned an independent evaluation by ITAD, ‘Evaluating Girl Hub’, to understand which elements of the Girl Hub model were most effective and where changes would lead to greater impact. The full evaluation report, enclosed here with a foreword by Girl Effect’s Managing Director, was a very useful review of our work at the time. Many of the recommendations have informed the way Girl Effect now works and has been incorporated into what we do and how we do it. The report is additionally useful for other organisations or practitioners working in the space of girl programming and social communication.
