Six key factors affect a girls’ economic empowerment: financial capital, human capital, social capital, physical capital, social norms and institutions.
AGALI’s report looks at a wide variety of economic empowerment strategies for adolescent girls and also covers the importance of:
- Helping with the school-to-work transition, when adolescent girls often slip through the net
- Ensuring access to safe spaces where girls can access support networks
- Providing real-world job opportunities in workplaces that are girl-friendly
- Being data-driven at every stage to ensure maximum impact
This research, which is part of AGALI's Let Girls Lead initiative, goes on to identify gaps in current provisions, in particular the greater investment needed in underserved areas such as Latin America.
